Janice Diann Martin

Janice Diann Martin passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at the age of 59. She was born on May 6, 1953, in St. Louis, daughter of the late J. D. Hamlett and Ruth Evelyn (Hillis) Sebastian. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Jerry Hamlett and two sisters, Katherine Marie and Patricia Sue Hamlett and a granddaughter, Abbye Gayle Hamlett. Janice and her family moved to Southeast Missouri when she was a child where she lived on a cotton farm. Later the family moved to Farmington where she made her home. She was employed with Healthy Home and Family home health care services at the time of her passing. She will be remembered for being an avid Bingo player. Fishing and crocheting were also favorite hobbies. She enjoyed playing the lottery and always expected that next ticket to be a big win. She was very family oriented and was always instrumental in getting her family together for various activities. Janice is survived by her sons, Paul Hamlett and wife, Lori, and son, Michael Martin; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Hayden "Junior" Sebastian and wife, Roxana; one sister, Carolyn Burnia; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving is a special friend who was like family, Thelma Eakins. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel and Crematory on Monday, October 1 from 10 to 11 with services to follow at 11 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Elder Roger A. Blum, Sr. of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Interment will be at Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Farmington.
