Janet Haggard, of Farmington, passed away December 30, 2014 at the age of 60. She was born in Bethesda, Maryland on February 5, 1954 to the late Forrest Elwood and Jeanie (Dunlap) Haile. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Haggard in 2011. As a child of a career Airman in the Air Force, Janet lived several places growing up, to include Arkansas, Texas, Hawaii and Japan. She graduated high school in Okinawa before going on to graduate from college at Southeast Missouri State with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management. In 1977 she married the love of her life, Henry Haggard. She worked for the State Employment Service until 1993. In 1992 she went back to school to pursue her dream of being a teacher and ultimately received a Master's in Elementary Education from Southwest Missouri Baptist University. She taught at Farmington High School for sixteen years in the school's At-Risk program. In 2007 she went back to work for the State of Missouri teaching in the Department of Mental Health. Janet loved to travel, read, watch mystery shows and mostly loved spending time with her family. She loved her grandchildren very dearly, and was extremely proud to become a grandmother. Janet is survived by her son, Joseph Haggard, daughter-in-law, Amanda Haggard, three granddaughters, Alexis, Alyssa, and Crystal; two sisters, Carol Crocker and Connie Moon; as well as one niece, three nephews, and several great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and extended family. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Sunday, January 4, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Monday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Reverend Edward Bennett officiating. Interment will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Assembly of God of Park Hills.
