STE. GENEVIEVE James Richard Otto of Ste. Genevieve passed away October 20, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis at the age of 76. He was born November 17, 1940 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late James Jacob and Marie (Fitzgerald) Otto. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Lahey Otto and a son-in-law, Karl Dubbelde.
From February, 1961 to February, 1965, James proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force. He spent most of his career as a letter carrier for the U. S. Postal Service. A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, James was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a life member of the American Legion and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
Survivors include his first wife, Joanna (Block) Otto and their three sons, Robert Otto, Richard Otto, Steven (Sara) Otto; children, Denny Lahey, Teresa Dubbelde, Diane (Daryl) Howard, Stephanie (David) Zimmerman, Chris Lahey, Patrick Lahey, Kelly (Stephen) Myatt and Polly Thompson; grandchildren, Megan, Joel, Logan, Marrissa, Patty, Tony, Nikki, Taylor, John, Sheley, Jake, Tiffany, Shelby, Matt, Diane, Rachel Karlena, Whitney, Gabrielle, J. T., James, Brandon and Tiffany; eight great grandchildren. Also surviving is his companion, Nancy Ortega.
Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 beginning at 9 a.m. The Ancient Order of Hibernians will have a service beginning at 9:45 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Father Abe Arganiosa officiating.
