James O. Barwick

FARMINGTON - James "Jim" O. Barwick of Farmington, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at the age of 80. He was born in St. Louis on October 21, 1942 to the late Orville Richard Carol Barwick and Ruby Lucille (McNew) Barwick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife and the mother of his children, Betty Barwick in 2013. Jim spent his early childhood in St. Louis and when he was ten the family moved to rural Farmington, Missouri. His father had purchased a farm and a business, Barwicks Gas Station. Jim worked both on the farm and for his dad at the gas station while attending school in Farmington. He was a member of the first graduating class at the "new" Farmington High School. He went on to have a long career with Southwestern Bell Telephone, which later became A T & T. After 35 years he retired and in retirement he enjoyed working at Chaumette Winery. He liked hunting and fishing and had a great time going on fishing trips with his son-in-law. Jim was a long-time dedicated member of the Farmington Elks Club 1765. Survivors include his three daughters, Cheryl (Kevin) Johnson, Colinda (Chris) James and Kimberly (Denver) Cunningham; grandchildren Sara Belenky, James Dixon, Justin Bridgeman, Jake Bridgeman, and Kyler Barwick; two great grandchildren, Julian and Dante Belenky; a sister, Carol Bloom and several step-grandchildren and extended family. Friends and family may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Friday, September 8, 2023 beginning at 3 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 5:30 p.m. in the Cozean Chapel.
