James "Jim" Luther King of Park Hills passed away on Monday, July 8, 2013, at the age of 65. He was born on May 17, 1948, in St. Louis, son of the late Luther Washington and Brizelee (Crawford) King. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Raymond C. Hammers, and two sisters, Vicky Sperino and Geneva Barber. Jim grew up in the St. Louis area and as a young adult proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict. After returning to Missouri he worked at McDonnell Douglas for twenty years before joining U. S. Tool in Desloge where he worked for 15 years prior to his retirement. Survivors include a sister, Sandy Smart; a sister-in-law, Janet Hammers; a special niece and nephew, Michelle Hammers Harper and Mike Hammers; and a special great-nephew, Drew Bridges. Also surviving are a host of other nieces, nephews and extended family. Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 2:15 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
