FARMINGTON James Edward Davis, of Farmington, entered into eternal rest on March 15, 2022, at Camelot Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation at the age of 85. He was born on March 1, 1937, in Smithville, Arkansas to the late Eddie Lee and Ethel Mae (Ratliff) Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Owens) Davis, his son, Shawn Davis, his siblings, Eddie (the late Kapra) Davis, Jessie (the late Stanley) West, Helen (the late Trinnin and the late Bob) West Patton, Dora (the late Eddie) Sisco, and Katie Spratt, and his brother-in-law, Ernest Kelly. James is survived by his sons, Gary (wife, Bobbie) Davis of Ironton, Randy (wife, Nancy) Davis of Mineral Point, and Mike Davis of Park Hills, his grandchildren, Brandy (husband, Josh) Francis, Tiffany (husband, Paul) Wilfong, Jarrett (wife, Sidney) Davis, Kari (husband, Danny) Mueller, Melanie Davis, Courtney (husband, Dr. Michael) Henson, Brandon Davis, and Breanna Davis, twelve great grandchildren, sisters, Melba Janet Kelly of Leslie and Karen (husband, Doug) Williamson of Doniphan, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. James was the son of a sharecropper and started tending to the fields in his early years in Southeast Missouri. He had to quit school at the age of 11 to help provide for the family working on a John Deere Tractor in the cotton fields after his dad had a leg amputation from a combine accident. He worked hard all his life to provide for all his loved ones. James enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, playing his guitar and helping his sons with projects throughout the years. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Cozean Memorial Chapel. Visitation will resume on Thursday, March 17, 2022, from 7:00am until time of service at 10:00am in the Cozean Chapel officiated by Pastor Mark Moss.
