Jim Gifford of Farmington passed away at home Sunday, August 30, 2015, at the age of 77 years. He was born January 1, 1938 in Fredericktown to the late Paul and Ruth (Gholson) Gifford. Early in his life Jim served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Farmington City Council, the Associated Building Center Board of Directors, Commerce Bank Board of Directors, Memorial United Methodist Church Board of Trustees, life long member of both the Elks Lodge 1765 of Farmington and the Memorial United Methodist Church of Farmington. He was owner/operator of Gifford Lumber Company in Farmington until his retirement in 2003. An avid outdoorsman, Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and water sports. He was an enthusiastic fan of both the St. Louis Cardinals and the Dallas Cowboys. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Survivors include the love of his life, his wife of 40 years, Ruby (Cleve) Danieley Gifford; his children, Debra Danieley, Cindy Danieley, Randy (Doylene) Danieley, all of Farmington, Tamara (Danieley) Meyer of Ste. Genevieve and Rick Danieley of Farmington; four grandchildren, Trey Danieley, Maci Danieley of Farmington, Josie Meyer and Chet Meyer of Ste. Genevieve; one sister, Geraldine "Judy" (Norman) Shelton; one nephew, Greg Shelton all of Columbia, Missouri. Friends may call on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 from 4 - 8 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel. Visitation will resume Wednesday at Memorial United Methodist Church from 9 - 11 followed by the service at 11 a.m. with Reverend Scott Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Camp Hope or Memorial United Methodist Church.
