James Albert Hopkins of Farmington passed away on August 1, 2006, at Parkland Health Center at the age of 77 years. He was born on August 18, 1928, in St. Louis, the son of the late George and Bessie (Cissna) Hopkins. Mr. Hopkins was an active and lifetime member of the American Legion Post 416 and the Farmington VFW Post 5896. He proudly served in the U. S. Army in the Korean War. Mr. Hopkins retired from Trimfoot Shoe Company. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Erma (Johnson) Hopkins, three sons, Mark Hopkins (Kenda), Herb Propst, all of Farmington, and Mike Hopkins of Potosi, three daughters, Janet (James) Swinger of Poplar Bluff, Donna (James) Robart of Cadet and Angie (Howard) West of Farmington, four grandchildren, Brian, Tracy, Tiffany and Kelsey and two great-grandchildren. Many cherished friends and other relatives also survive. The family will receive friends at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, August 4, 2006. A joint American Legion and VFW Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday. Visitation will resume on Saturday at 7:30 a.m. with a funeral service at 1 p.m. with the Rev. James Lacey officiating. Burial will follow at the Hillview Memorial Gardens.
