Jacob Lee Bruntjen

June 20, 1987 — May 10, 2021

ROSEWOOD HEIGHTS, IL - Jacob Lee Bruntjen of Rosewood Heights has passed away May 10th at the age of 33. He was born June 20, 1987 to Scott Herman Bruntjen and Debora Ann (Phillips) Elliott. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Herman and Mary Bruntjen, and Jim and Gracie Phillips. Jacob was a 2006 graduate from Roxana High School. He went on to receive an Associate Degree from Lewis and Clark Community College. He worked as a CAD designer for Eco-Genesis in Massachusetts and with ACT Inc in East Alton Illinois. He also worked with Jada doing landscaping for several years. Jacob loved the outdoors and was an avid camper and explorer. He was always happiest when outside in nature, but of all his loves, fishing was by far his favorite. He strongly believed in the "filet and release" fishing style, and we were happy for that, as we always could count on him to come up with a mess of fish. Jacobs second lifelong love affair was with the creation of art. His favorite subjects were always sunset, plants and nature. He always enjoyed concerts and listening to music. Despite being a terrible singer, that did not stop him, and the glee club in heaven could be in trouble. He was forever scheming creative meals to cook, although wasnt so red hot in the cleaning-up dept. So, if heaven is all that, the dishes will clean themselves, he will be set. Survivors are his parents and his brother Matthew Herman Bruntjen of Venice, Florida, and twin sister Jacqueline Elyse Bruntjen of West Hartford, Connecticut. Jacob was forever the romantic and desired to have a wife and kiddos. Like most of us, he had his share of loves, regrets, and opportunities, and a definite charming way about him. He just never found his keeper. Overall, Jake was one of the warmest, cuddliest, loving, guys ever. A few people truly appreciated these wonderful qualities of his and fewer got to feel them from him. He had many acquaintances but very few close friends you knew he was loyal, and true, and that his love for you was undying. He would do anything for you and time and distance would never change his heart. Even as a child we always thought of him as an old soul. He did have his demons and they certainly impacted the last couple of years, but now the battle has ended, and he is free. He will always be in our hearts, in our thoughts, and in our prayers. We love you; we miss you, we will forever yearn to feel his warmth. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Bethalto Presbyterian Church at 15 Nelson Drive in Bethalto, Illinois, and a Reception to follow from 3 6 p.m. at the Airliner Bar and Grill at 573 E. Airline Drive in East Alton, Illinois. We are also planning a Celebration of Life, as he would have wished, for the Twins birthday, June 20, 2021. Details will come closer to the date. We ask that in lieu of flowers or any other items that donations will be made to the Operation Blessing in Woodriver. Jacob felt very strongly about the services they offer to the less fortunate neighbors in our community and truly making a difference for people in need. All donations can be mailed by check to: Operation Blessing, 18 East Lorena Ave. in Woodriver, IL 62095 Memorial Service Bethalto Presbyterian Church Saturday, May 22, 2021 1:00 PM 15 Nelson Drive Bethalto, IL 62010 A Celebration of Life Airliner Bar and Grill Saturday, May 22, 2021 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM 573 E.
