Ira James "Jim" Obenauer, Jr.

Ira James "Jim" Obenauer, Jr. of Farmington passed away on Monday, January 6, 2014, at the age of 57. He was born on February 15, 1956, at Farmington, MO, son of the late Ira James Obenauer, Sr.and Marjorie L. (Hawkins) Obenauer. Jim grew up in Bonne Terre and graduated from Farmington High School in 1974. Soon after graduation he joined the Navy where he proudly served from 1975 to 1978. He went on to attend Mineral Area College where he received an Associate's Degree. He devoted much of his life to working in the service field having worked in the medical field as an emergency medical technician, served as a firefighter for the City of Farmington, and was an instructor at Mineral Area College. In his spare time Jim enjoyed fishing and going to shooting matches. He had been a long time member of the Farmington Masonic Lodge. His kids and grand kids meant the world to him and he will be sorely missed by them. Survivors include his devoted soul mate, Nathalie Sue (Winebarger) Obenauer, five children, Ira "Jim" Obenauer, III , (Mary Kay), Mike Obenauer (Eve), Shelly Peterson (Steve), Samantha Bourbon and Robin Obenauer; twenty-three grandchildren; three sisters, Brenda Inman, Deborah House and Patricia Pettus (Edwin); numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Thursday, January 9 from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume Friday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 1 p.m. with Pastor Ronnie Dane officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Leadington. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
