FARMINGTON Homer Sigman Shannon Jr., of Farmington, entered into eternal rest on June 19, 2023, at Mercy Jefferson at the age of 81. He was born on July 31, 1941, in Farmington to the late Homer Sigman Shannon Sr. and Mary (Rhodes) Shannon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Homer "Scott" Sigman Shannon III, his grandson, Frank Alfaro, his sister, Mary Lou Anderson, and his brothers-in-law, Chelmer Barrow and Jim Stranahan. Homer is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary (Quesnel) Shannon, his children, Marcus LaRoy (Laura) Shannon of Desloge and Marquitte Shannon of Farmington, his grandchildren, Fred Alfaro, George Alfaro, April (Odell) Jackson, Cassandra (Thomas) Keith, Nicholas Shannon, Riley Burlbaw, and Autumn Burlbaw, many great grandchildren, his siblings, Michael (Janet) Shannon of Branson, Barbara Barrow of Moberly, and Nora Lee Stranahan of Cape Girardeau, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Homer retired from St. Joe Lead Company after 30 years as an accountant. He also formerly worked as a radio announcer for KFMO and a substitute teacher for Farmington High School. He was a history buff who could quote entire Shakesperean sonnets. Homer enjoyed gardening, oil painting, singing, and participating in dog shows. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Per Homers request, no formal services will be held.
