Homer Linn Pinkston

December 27, 1932 — April 15, 2013

Homer Linn Pinkston, of Bonne Terre, was born December 27, 1932 on the family farm in Ste. Genevieve County and passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 15, 2013 at Southbrook Skilled Nursing Center in Farmington. He was born to the late Herman and Ethel (Archambo) Pinkston. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Elwood "Bud" Pinkston; sister, Geneva "Jean" Griffard and his wife of 46 years, Wanda (Tawfall) Pinkston in 2000. Homer proudly served his country for 20 years in the U. S. Navy and another 26 years as a mail carrier for the U. S. Postal Service in Park Hills. He was an avid bowler, fisherman and deer hunter. Family was everything to him and he was the best friend, dad and grandpa ever. Homer was always ready to lend a helping hand. He will be forever in our hearts. Survivors include his five children, Debra (Keith) Harter, James Pinkston, Donna (Larry) Hayes, Mary (Jon) Byrd, Sheila (Jimi) Polston; eighteen grandchildren, Kristen (Jason) Cooper, Craig Skorseth, Kevin (Megan) Harter, Valerie (Chris) Doran, ReBecca Pinkston (Brett Boyer), Jeffrey Pinkston, Larissa Hayes, Allyson Hayes, Melody Hayes, Danielle Usher, Joseph "J. T." Usher, Shauna Usher, Austin Byrd, Matthew Byrd, Benjamin Byrd, Kelsey Skaggs, Jacob Skaggs and Teagan Polston; five great-grandchildren, Brandon & Ryan Cooper, Allyson Doran, Calliope & Alexander Boyer; five brothers, William "Bryant" (Virginia) Pinkston, Herman "Fred" (Shirley) Pinkston, Charles "Norman" (Faye) Pinkston, Ernest Lee "Ernie" (Rose) Pinkston and Carvel "Tom" (Violet) Pinkston; one sister, Jane Vaught; a special sister-in-law, Rose Ann Varner and numerous other relatives and friends. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Thursday, April 18 from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the time of the service at 10 a.m. with Reverend Scott Hall officiating.
