Hilda Sherrill Govro

Hilda Sherrill Govro of Farmington passed away on Friday, September 23, 2011, at the age of 80 years, 9 months, and 30 days. She was born on November 24, 1930, at Annapolis, Missouri, daughter of the late Sherman and Zora (LaPlant) Sherrill. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Dale "R.D." Sherrill. Hilda grew up in Annapolis where she graduated from high school in 1948. While in high school she was active in choir and played volleyball. She attended Cosmetology School both in Farmington and Festus and went on to have a long career as a Beautician. She was a member of DAR and a past member of Eastern Star. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing and quilting and was an accomplished cook. She liked working crosswords, Suduko and playing Bunco. She also enjoyed reading and traveling and was proud of having traveled abroad to such places as Europe and Eastern Asia. She was a faithful Christian who loved studying the Bible. Her favorite pastime was spending quality time with her beloved family and friends. Hilda is survived by her husband, Francis N. Govro; her children, Linda Scott (Mrs. Tom) Safley, Richard Wayne Scott and wife Pamela, David Ray Scott and wife Kayla, and Gary Dale Scott; step-children, Sharon Kay (Mrs. Kenny) Kollmeyer, Karen Fay (Mrs. Arthur) Wofford and Michael Francis Govro and wife Tina; twenty-eight grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald "Bud" Sherrill and wife JoAnn, a sister-in-law, Virginia Sherrill, three sisters, Betty (Mrs. Bill) Davis, Jean Lannert and Yvonne (Mrs. Fred) Seitz. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews and numerous cousins. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 26. Visitation will resume Tuesday from 7 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with the Reverend James Lacey officiating. Interment will be at Annapolis Cemetery.
