Hilda Marie Edgar

Hilda Marie Edgar of Farmington passed away on Friday, September 28, 2012, at the age of 78 years, 11 months, and 3 days. She was born on October 25, 1933, at St. Louis, daughter of the late Leonard Crowley and Virginia Oneida (Pullen) Lancaster. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Fred Cortez Edgar in 2011; and a daughter, Lana Renee Edgar in 1967. She was also preceded in death by an uncle who raised her, William Elzy Pullen. Hilda attended school in Farmington and married Fred Edgar in 1950 at Pocahontas, AR. She worked as a checker at Heck's IGA from 1959 until the time it closed in 1992. She will be remembered for her wonderful cooking skills. She especially enjoyed barbequing and entertaining family and friends. She was a faithful member of Farmington First Freewill Baptist Church pastored by her wonderful friend, Pastor Roger Hogan. Hilda was the ultimate shopper who loved shopping whenever given the chance. More than anything she was happiest when her beloved grandchildren were around her. Hilda is survived by her three children, Brenda Sue Haney and husband, Mike, Glenda Faye Edwards and husband, David and Bryan Keith Edgar and wife, Carol all of Farmington; twelve grandchildren; and twenty seven great-grandchildren with two on the way. Also surviving are Hilda's sisters-in-law, Betty Smith, Margaret Pullen, Cathy Hammers and Marie Edgar. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory on Tuesday, October 2 from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the time of the service at 10 a.m. with Pastor Mike Haney officiating.
