Herman Stevens

Herman Buster Washington Stevens of Farmington died on March 24, 2010 at the age of 87 at Camelot Nursing Home in Farmington. He was born September 5, 1922 in Brunot, Missouri to the late George Washington Stevens and Minnie (Skaggs) Stevens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Jesse Pearl (Canterberry) Stevens, his brothers, Gilbert Stevens and Paul Stevens and his sisters, Ada Barnes, LaVada Tripp and Irene Weiss. Survivors include his sister, Kathleen Stevens Peppers of Bonne Terre, a sister-in-law, Mary (Canterberry) Findley of Illinois along with many nieces and nephews. Buster, as he was fondly called by all his family and friends, lived many years in the Doe Run area before moving to Farmington. He worked at Iron Mountain Mines and retired from Trimfoot Shoe Company in 1987. Buster will always be remembered for his love of the outdoors. Over the years, he shared his passion for fishing and hunting with family and good friends regardless of the weather. He also enjoyed baseball, playing in his younger days and listening to the Cardinals on the radio was a favorite pastime. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 26 in the Cozean Memorial Chapel. Friends may call on Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at Cozeans with the Reverend Roger Findley officiating. Interment will follow in Knob Lick Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff of Camelot Nursing Home for their care and support.
