Herbert Russell Sheets

Herbert Russell "Herb" Sheets of Farmington passed away on Friday, June 13, 2014, at the age of 68. He was born on February 23, 1946, at Quincy, IL, son of the late Dr. Waynard R. "Doc" Sheets and Gloria J. (Jorgensen) Sheets, who survives. Herb's passion in life was raising and riding mules. He enjoyed going on trail rides with his family and friends. Tending to his stock and equipment was his greatest joy when he was not working. Herb had a very successful career with Northwestern Mutual for 36 years. Through his career he qualified and became a life time member of the Million Dollar Round Table. He served on the Farmington RVII School Board and the Farmington Downtown Development Association. He was a lifelong advocate of Farmington and donated a lot of his time for the betterment of the community having been a member of the Farmington Elks, and a past member of ECMO Shrine Club, Rotary Club, Jaycees, and Farmington Chamber of Commerce. Survivors in addition to his mother, include his wife, Elizabeth (Semar) Sheets; two sons, Wayne Russell (Alison) Sheets and Jay (Julie) Sheets; four grandchildren, Cal, Garrett, Anne Marie and Colton; a sister, Diane Bush; and a host of extended family members and many good friends. Also surviving is his loving canine companion, Skip. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Monday, June 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday morning beginning at 7 a.m followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Dr. David Webster officiating.
