Herbert Mckelvey

FARMINGTON Herbert McKelvey of Farmington, passed away May 31, 2018 at his home at the age of 98. He was born May 29, 1920 in Fredericktown, Missouri to the late Walter McKelvey and Julia (Huffman) McKelvey. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Walter McKelvey, Jr., Howard McKelvey, Harold McKelvey and Herschel McKelvey; and three sisters, Wanda Knueppel, Wilma Ledford and Carole McGinnis.

Herbert was a 1938 graduate of Farmington High School. As a child he was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Farmington. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Force during WWII where he flew 67 missions over the South Pacific. Herbert was a member of the Farmington VFW and a former active member of the local Farm Bureau. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and sports, especially football and baseball.

Survivors include his loving wife of 74 years, Helen Marie (Hopkins) McKelvey. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews as well as great-great nieces and nephews.
