FARMINGTON Helen Marie (Hopkins) McKelvey, of Farmington passed away September 26, 2021 at the age of 100 years and 3 months. She was born June 26, 1921 in Farmington, Missouri to the late Thomas Asbury Hopkins and Minnie Louise (Kollmeyer) Hopkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert McKelvey; four sisters, Irene Schultz, Alberta Wampler, Glenda Leitterman and Wanda Dexter; three brothers, Lynn, Asbury and Harry Hopkins; three nieces Deanna Sampson, Marilyn Gonz and Gloria Eskew and a great nephew, James Gonz. Helen Marie was a 1938 graduate of Farmington High School. She went on to Rubicam Business College in St. Louis. She was employed by the Childrens Home in Farmington for many years and later she worked as an instructional management system aide for the Farmington R-VII district. She married Herbert McKelvey on October 16, 1943 at St. Johns Methodist Chapel in St. Louis with Dr. Albra Godbold officiating. She was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include many special nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews and great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews as well.
