Helen L. Estes of Farmington went to be with God on Monday, May 16, 2011, at Southbrook Skilled Nursing Center, at the age of 89 years. She was born January 3, 1922, at Farmington, the daughter of the late Charles and Robbie (Burns) Wines. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, John I. Estes, and a brother Francis Wines. Helen was a homemaker and a member of the Ester Baptist Church for over 60 years where she enjoyed singing in the choir. In her spare time she liked to sew, and play piano by ear. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Dorothy Estes Hoehn, three nieces, Claudia Dix King (Ben) and son Jamie King of Farmington, Barbara Ann Wines Wells (Jerry) of Sullivan, and Sherry Basler (Francis) of Desloge, three nephews, Jim Hughes (Judy) of Columbia, Charlie Hughes (Mary) of Columbia and David Estes (Sandy) of St. Louis. Numerous great nieces and great nephews, her special friends, Ann Walker and Nikita, and her loving longtime friends also survive. The family will receive friends at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18. Visitation will resume on Thursday at 9:30 am with a funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Jonathan Jones officiating.
