Harry 'Sonny' L. Jennings

FARMINGTON Harry L. "Sonny" Jennings, of Farmington, entered into eternal rest on August 7, 2022, at Parkland Health Center at the age of 87. He was born on May 29, 1935, in Bonne Terre to the late Harry F. and Clarabelle (Laws) Jennings Dicus. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Robert Brincat. Sonny is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Elma (Overall) Jennings, his sons, Jay (Deborah) Jennings of Cary, NC, Jeff (Kim) Jennings of Weingarten, and Ben Jennings of Farmington, his grandchildren, Amy (Ryan) Keeter, Jason (Martha) Jennings, Adam Jennings, and Riley Jennings Thurman, his great grandchildren, Susannah Keeter, Markus Keeter, Jackson Jennings, and Maxwell Jennings, his sister, Alice Mae (Keith) Settle of Zionsville, IN, half sister, Jennifer Brincat of San Antonio, TX, his stepsister, Rita (John) Horton of Peachtree, GA, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Sonny graduated from University of Missouri/Columbia in 1957 earning a bachelors degree in forestry. He proudly served his country as a veteran in the United States Army Reserves. He was the owner of Jennings Lumber Company, making him the third- generation owner, after his grandfather originally founded the business in 1933. Sonny was a 50-year board member for First State Community Bank. He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Farmington, the St. Francois County Country Club, and the Elks Lodge of Farmington. Sonny was an avid sportsman playing football and basketball for Farmington High School and American Legion baseball. He was a diehard St. Louis Browns and St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was a lifelong Mizzou Tiger fan and was a season ticket holder. He also enjoyed playing golf, hunting, and fishing. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel. An Elks service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume on Thursday, August 11, 2022, from 12:00 noon until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Farmington with Pastor Rocky Good and Pastor Greg Robinson officiating.
