Harry Gale Sharp

April 7, 1928 — October 27, 2010

Harry Gale Sharp of Farmington passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at the age of 82 years. He was born on April 7, 1928, at Flat River, the son of the late John and Anna B. (Matthews) Sharp. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Dewey Eugene Sharp, and a sister, Mildred Middendorf. Harry grew up in Flat River where he attended school. In April of 1946 he married his true love, Colleen Boyd. He moved the family to Granite City, IL in 1954 where he was employed for 32 years with Dow Chemical. He retired in 1985 at such time as he and Colleen moved back to Farmington. After retirement he and Colleen enjoyed traveling extensively to the western and southern United States. Harry was an avid baseball fan, never missing a game. He faithfully attended the Pendleton United Baptist Church and was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge #835 in Granite City and frequently attended the Farmington Lodge. In addition to his wife, Harry is survived by a son, Marion Gale "George" Sharp of Granite City and a brother, Otto Sharp of Zephyr Hills, FL. Additional survivors include many nieces, nephews and good friends. Visitation will be held at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 3 to 7 pm on Sunday, October 31 with Masonic Rites. Visitation will resume Monday beginning at 7 am until the beginning of the service at 10 am in the Cozean Chapel with Pastor Jay Lacey officiating. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens.
