Harold James Mauk, 89, of Farmington entered Heaven's gates on November 27, 2010 at Parkland Health Center. He was born to the late William David Bill and Ella Pritchett Mauk on September 22, 1921 at Flat River, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister-in-law, Beulah Thomas Mauk and a nephew, Dale Mauk. Harold is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marlyn (Thomas) Mauk, his five children, Harold Stephen Mauk and wife Janice of Farmington, Ronald L. Wampler and wife Kay of Park Hills, Lana J. Wampler of Farmington, Marquetta Bryson and husband Wayne of Desloge and Sharon Mauk of Springfield, MO, his brother, Billy G. Mauk of Farmington, eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends, Delano Halter and Stormy Bennett. Harold proudly served in World War II during the Central Europe Campaign as a Staff Sergeant with the 89th Army Infantry Division and the 89th Signal Company where he was promoted to Battalion Mess Sergeant. Harold attended Food Service Supervision School. After being honorably discharged, he enlisted in the Missouri National Guard. While serving in the National Guard as a Mess Officer with the 2nd Battalion Infantry Regiment, Harold received a letter of commendation from the Infantry USAR Command for successfully serving over 1000 troops on August 3, 1958 at Camp McCoy, WI. After Harold's military career was completed, he worked at various positions before becoming a pipefitter starting at Mallinckrodt Chemical, which led to several other companies in the construction trade spanning over 30 years. Additionally, Harold was a member of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Texas as a Master Mason for over 60 years. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 416. The family will receive friends at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, November 30. A Masonic service will be at 6 p.m. and an American Legion service will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Visitation will resume on Wednesday at 7 a.m. with a funeral service at 1 p.m. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at Parkview Cemetery.
