H. Roy Kitchell

H. Roy Kitchell of Farmington passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2010, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, at the age of 85 years, 7 months, and 2 days. He was born July 2, 1924, at Cantwell, son of the late Ed and Mary Ann (Weiss) Kitchell. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Fern Graham Kitchell, his second wife, Kathleen Karres Kitchell, and by three brothers, George, Charles and Jim Kitchell. Roy was a life-long resident of the Mineral Area. He worked for St. Joe Lead Co. for 28 years and later was owner and operator of Kitchell's Body Shop in Leadington and Rustic Acres Trailer Park. His favorite pastime was yard work, especially mowing his lawn. Above all, he loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Doris (Radford) Kitchell of Farmington, three daughters, Sharon (Mrs. Tom) Isabel of Farmington, Willa Hassell and her husband Arthur Combrink of Farmington and Sarah Kitchell and her fianc Steven Dorris; a special granddaughter, Jaime Stevens who was reared in his home; step-children, Kim Voyles and Chris Dann of Farmington, Laura Wells of Jackson and Henry Dann of Ocala, FL, Robert Logan and his wife Linda, Ron Braddy and his wife Cindy and Gina (Mrs. Bob) Politte all of Farmington; six biological grandchildren, Darren Klemp, Land O Lakes, FL, Melissa (Mrs. Jeff) Pigg, Ryan Hassell, Quentin Hassell, Brandon Hassell, and Whitney Hassell all of Farmington, eight great-grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren all of who were dearly loved. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 8, 2010. Visitation will resume on Tuesday morning beginning at 7 until service time at 10 a.m. with Pastor Rocky Good.
