GUY J. BOWLES, 78, of Doe Run passed away on Thursday March 3rd, 2011 in Festus, MO. He was born on July 28th 1932, in Centerville, MO, to the late Guy and Agnes (Akins) Bowles. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, a brother, Winston Bowles and a daughter, Brenda Bowles. On June 10th, 1955 he married the love of his life, Velma (Mayo) Bowles who survives. To this union were born 3 children, Frank, Brenda and Doug. Guy proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He retired from Pilot Knob Pellet Co. and the Amax Mining Co. He is survived by his wife, Velma Bowles of Doe Run, son, Frank (Shelly) Bowles of Doe Run and son, Doug (Nancy) Bowles of Park Hills; 7 grandchildren: Joshua Bowles of Potosi, Gabriel Bowles, Brandy Bowles and Rebecca Bowles all of Doe Run, Casey (Cord) Blumenstock of Farmington, Jeremy Bowles and Aaron Bowles of Park Hills and 4 great-grandchildren, sister, Dorothy Flagg of the State of Michigan, brother, Norman (Velma) Bowles of Potosi, brother, Burnell (Joyce) Bowles of Marlow Oklahoma, brother, Larry (Hope) Bowles of Farmington and sister, Patty (Jack) Martin of Farmington, 3 aunts, Lois Helvey, Velma Bowles and LoraMae Miller as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be Saturday March 5th, 2011 from 5 until 9 p.m. at the Cozean Memorial Chapel in Farmington. Visitation will resume at the funeral home at 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Sunday March 6th, 2011. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Pendleton United Baptist Church in Doe Run with the Rev. Jay Lacey officiating. Burial will follow at the Doe Run Memorial Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials may be made to the Pendleton United Baptist Church.
