Gustav Buchholz, formerly of Ste. Genevieve County, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Presbyterian Manor at the age of 95 years. He was born on December 17, 1913, in Zigers, Poland, son of the late Aurelia (Hamann) and Gustav Buchholz Sr. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Arnitz Pauline (Fink) Buchholz, four brothers, Berthold, Hugo, Alfred and Otto, two sisters, Alma Buchholz (in infancy) and Linda Landfogt, and two sisters-in-law, Lil Buchholz and Julia Buchholz. Mr. Buchholz was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Farmington. Gustav proudly served the United States of America in the Army in World War II as a Technician 5th Grade. He was a awarded 5 Bronze Stars and a Good Conduct Medal for his service in Normandy, Ardennes and Rhineland. He retired from the St. Louis Post Office after 37 years, and was a lifetime member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He is survived by a niece, Carol Reeves (Darrell), great-niece, Cindy Halter (David) and great-nephew, Tim Reeves (Gwen) of Farmington. Nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and especially his extended family at Presbyterian Manor also survive. The family will receive friends at St. Paul Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2009. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. at the church with Pastor David Oddi officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
