Grace Evelyn Wilburn

Grace Evelyn Wilburn, age 99, a cherished matriarch, and beacon of love and wisdom, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025, in Farmington, MO. Born in Clarksville, TN, on August 6, 1925, to the late Irving and Esther (Powell) Nelson.

Grace was a proud graduate of Kewanee High School and later earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. Her passion for teaching and her unwavering dedication to her students shaped the lives of many during her tenure at Kage's one-room school in Cape Girardeau, Immaculate Conception School in Jackson, and Advance Elementary School.

Grace embraced life alongside her late husband Homer Williams, Sr. Together they raised a family of deep bonds, including her devoted children, Homer Wilburn, Jr. of Farmington, Mary (Darryl) Green of Farmington, Jim (Debbie) Wilburn of Jackson, MI, and Carolyn Bien of Las Vegas, NV, who are her living legacies. She was a doting grandmother to nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Grace found joy in her many interests, including quilting, knitting, jewelry making, sewing, and cross stitching. She was a woman of strong Christian faith and for many years, she attended Memorial United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Red Hats Society.

Preceded in death by her siblings, Frank (Lucille) Nelson and Ruby (Frankie) Clayton, and her son-in-law, Michael Bien.

Grace's legacy of unwavering love, educational commitment, and creative passions will forever be woven into the hearts of those who knew her.

A visitation will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church officiated by Reverend Shannon Davis.
