COFFMAN Glenn Allen Shelton, Sr., age 80, of Coffman, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2017. He was born to the late Clyde Shelton and Marie (Scheulen) Shelton on June 7, 1937. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Shelton; brothers, George Shelton, Kenneth Shelton, Donald Shelton, sister Doris Shelton and daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Shelton.
Glenn attended John the Baptist grade school in St. Louis and then went on to Cleveland High School. His future wife saw him for the first time from the school yard and said to her friends, "Im going to marry that boy some day", and she did. On July 19, 1956 he married Marilyn "Rita Robinson" Shelton and spent 60 years with the love of his life. They started a family in 1960 and raised three children in a loving home. He became a member of the Pipefitters Local #562 on February 1, 1961 and was a life member for over 50 years. One of his fondest memories of working with the Local was working on the St. Louis Arch as it was being built and throwing paper airplanes off the top. He also loved hunting and fishing and was a member of the Missouri Show-Me Big Bucks Club. He was a member of the Farmington Elks Lodge #1765, Day Lily Society and the Iris Society. Glenn had a very diverse interest in life, everything from hard manual labor to hybridizing day lilies. He seemed to encompass all that life had to offer him.
Survivors include his sons, Steven Shelton and Glenn Shelton, Jr. of Coffman, Missouri; daughter, Glynda and her husband Jason Patterson of Okawville, Illinois; grandchildren, Tim McGee and wife, Amanda United States Air Force, Amie McGee Mascoutah, Illinois, Charles Bauman III St. Louis, Missouri, Nicole Shelton Coffman, Missouri, Casey Shelton Coffman, Missouri; great grandchildren, Gabriella, Samantha, Kian, Skylar and Aubrie; nieces, Stacey, Lynn and Christy; nephews, Kenny, Scott, Larry and Lee; special cousin, Carol McKee and numerous other relatives and close friends.
Friends and relatives may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 from 5 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 30 at 10 a.m. at Ste. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church of Coffman with Father John Schneider as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Ste. Catherine Church cemetery.
