Farmington

FARMINGTON – Glenda Helen (Stephens) Corless passed away on February 25, 2025, at the age of 100. Her parents were DeVere and Susie (Powell) Stephens. Glenda attended her early school years in Marquand, Missouri, where her father served as the high school principal.

The family relocated to Fresno, California, in 1934 during the Great Depression. In 1938, Glenda’s mother, Susie, died during childbirth, a heartbreaking event for Glenda. She graduated high school at 15 and attended Fresno State College for a two-year pre-nursing program, aspiring to become an airline stewardess.

The family moved back to Missouri in 1943 and bought a farm in Chesterfield, next to her future husband’s family farm. Glenda joined the US Army Cadet Nursing Corps during World War II and graduated as a registered nurse in 1946. After the war, she worked at St. Louis City Hospital for the following five years.

After marrying Warren Corless in June 1950, they lived in Glasgow Village and Bellefontaine Neighbors for forty years. In 1995, they moved to Farmington Presbyterian Manor in Farmington, Missouri, where they made new friends and enjoyed dancing and traveling.

Glenda was predeceased by her husband, Warren. She is survived by her son, David (Cecilia) Corless, daughter Susan (Timm) Fair, sister, Nina Clippard, and brother Warren (Martha). Her surviving grandchildren include Catherine Corless, Laura Beth (Alan) York, Jeremy (Linda) Fair, Adam Fair, and Michael (Megan) Fair. Additionally, she has seven great-grandchildren: Lillie and Coleman York, Elliott and Nora Fair, Preston and Hudson Fair, and Margaret Fair.

After living 100 years, she is now welcomed by Jesus with the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant. “Glenda graciously donated her body to Washington University as a charitable gift to support medical education and research. Share your condolences and memories at cozeanfuneralhome.com.
