Geraldine 'Jerry' R. Hale

FARMINGTON - Geraldine "Jerry" Hale of Farmington passed away October 11, 2019 at Mercy South in St. Louis at the age of 93. She was born in Fredericktown on June 25, 1926 to the late Luther and Flora (Acup) Phillips. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Harold William Hale in 1994; a daughter, Sally Jordan in 2014; a grandson, Robert Pirtle in 2015; sisters, Norma Hawkins, Bertha Phillips, Virginia Tripp and Judy Bradley; brothers, Billy Phillips, Jesse Phillips, Cletus Phillips and Manual Phillips. Jerry, as most knew her grew up in Fredericktown in a large family. She married Harold Hale in 1943 in Madison County. She stayed busy raising her five children and worked as a cook at Mineral Area Osteopathic Hospital in Farmington. Jerry was an accomplished seamstress and did sewing professionally. Throughout the years she worked as a nanny for several Farmington families. Jerry crocheted and made picture frames. Her family will fondly remember her wonderful cooking skills especially her biscuits and breads. She was a woman of faith and was a member of the Desloge and Cape Girardeau Pentacostal Churches. Survivors include her four children, William Eugene (Judy) Hale, Rhonda Roberts, Sandra Tilton and Terry (Patsy) Hale; sixteen beloved grandchildren; numerous great and great great grandchildren; two brothers, Lindell Phillips and Paul Phillips; two sisters, Hazel Davis and Katie Boyer. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family. Visitation will be held at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, October 15, from 5 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday morning beginning at 7 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m. with Rev. Darrell Faire, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at Pendleton Cemetery in Doe Run. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Oklahoma Indian Child Welfare Association, Inc.
