Geraldine Hughes

Geraldine Myrtle Hughes, of Farmington, passed away October 23, 2014 at Presbyterian Manor at the age of 90. She was born on July 20, 1924, in Farmington, daughter of the late Bert L. Watkins and Jessie (Woods) Watkins. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Hughes, Jr., in 1989; four brothers, Bob Watkins, Glen Watkins, William Watkins and Medford "Chub" Watkins; and a sister, Bonnie Whitener. Geraldine will be remembered for enjoying her home and family. A member of the Farmington Assembly of God, she loved the Lord and served him faithfully. Her favorite bible verse was Matthew 11:28-30. In her spare time she liked home decorating and baking cakes. An avid reader, she also enjoyed the outdoors and taking walks. She had a passion for babies and little children and always lit up when she was around little ones. She was happiest when her family was around her. Survivors include her daughter, Sandy Haynes and her husband, Tom; one granddaughter, Jennifer Haynes, all of Omaha, NE; one brother, Jim Watkins; a special nephew who was like a brother, Eddie Watkins, both of Farmington; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members. Friends may call on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 - 7 p.m. Visitation will resume Monday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the service at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Bob Webb officiating. Interment will follow at Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Park Hills. Memorials may be made to Presbyterian Good Samaritan Fund.
