Geraldine "Geri" Doris Montgomery

Geraldine "Geri" D. Montgomery of Farmington passed away November 22, 2014 at the age of 93 years, 8 months and 10 days. She was born in East St. Louis, IL on March 12, 1921 daughter of the late Ernest and Lettie (Buchanan) Marshall. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Reid Franklin Pipkin in l954, a daughter, Sharon Pipkin and a sister, Ruby Graves. As a child Geri lived in many locations in the mineral area. In 1957 she married the love of her life, Leo Montgomery in Corinth, Mississippi. They first made their home in St. Louis County before moving to Hillsboro where they lived for a number of years. In 2004 they moved to Farmington where they made many new friendships in their work of planting new churches in the area. She was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. Her wonderful cooking skills will be fondly remembered by her family. She and Leo enjoyed two wonderful trips to the Holy Land. In addition to her loving husband of 57 years, Leo, she is survived by her children (Carole) Diane Martin and husband, Jack Ray, Patricia Dane and husband, Sam, Gerald Pipkin and wife, Antoinette "Toni", Dixie Montgomery and Paulette "Polly" Kientzy; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are many extended family and good friends. Friends may call on Monday, November 24 from 4 - 8 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel. Visitation will resume Tuesday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Rev. Ron Starwalt and Rev. Paul Odenthal officiating.
