Georgia T. Hager

Georgia T. Hager of Farmington passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center, at the age of 94 years, 4 months, and 22 days. She was born on February 22, 1916, at Bonne Terre, the daughter of the late Harry V. and Lena (McDowell) Cooper. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Robert E. Hager in 2002. Also preceding her in death were a son, Robert Eugene Hager; two sisters, Eva Lee Martin, Mary Straughan and an infant sister and a step-grandson, Stewart Coleman. A lifelong resident of the Mineral Area, Georgia worked for many years for the St. Francois County Recorder of Deeds, owned and operated a restaurant in Leadington and she retired after working many years as a Dietary Supervisor at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center. Georgia was a faithful member of the Farmington Christian Church. In her retirement she enjoyed quilting, crocheting and embroidery work as well as reading and gardening. She and Robert enjoyed fishing, camping and card playing with friends and family. Survivors include a son, Chester Hager and his wife Sandy of Carbondale, IL; a daughter, Sharon Mabery and her husband Jack of Cary, NC; three grandchildren, Greg Hager, Tara Reske and Amy Shuss; two step-grandchildren, Susan Keim and Scott Coleman; a great grandson; and five step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews and in-laws. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m.on Friday, July 16. Visitation will resume on Saturday from 7 a.m. until the beginning of the funeral service at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Dale Berck officiating. Interment will follow at Parkview Cemetery in Farmington. Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Manor's Good Samaritan Fund or the Farmington Christian Church.
