FARMINGTON Georgia Marguerite "Reet" Lefever, of Farmington, peacefully passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016 in her home surrounded by her loving family at the age of 92. She was born March 7, 1924 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Guy Roy Helton and Beulah Mae (Bailey) Helton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Murry S. Smith of Bowling Green; and two sisters, Evelyn Liebke Carter and Eva Dean Sevits.
Mrs. Lefever graduated from Truman State University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She went on to teach second grade in the public schools in Bowling Green, Missouri and the surrounding area for 32 years. After retirement she moved to Farmington to be close to her family. She pursued her love of art and became an accomplished china painter. She traveled weekly to Bourbon, Missouri where she honed her china painting skills.
In 1992 she married Paul Lefever of Bowling Green in the home of her daughter in Farmington. They enjoyed travel, boating and spending many winters in Arizona visiting with Paul's family there and in California. In addition to her china painting hobby she and Paul enjoyed a joint hobby of building aircraft. She utilized her experience of having been a riveter during World War II at North American Aviation in Kansas City.
In Arizona she stayed busy with her painting and paper toile, along with many activities with the friends they made during their winter trips. She was a member of PEO in Farmington and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Farmington. Her family will fondly remember her kindness, wonderful cooking skills and love of life.
Survivors in addition to her loving husband, Paul, are her children, Linda (Dr. Gerald Roberts) Roberts of Farmington, Michael Murry Smith of Seattle, WA and Stephen Helton (Holly Martin) Smith of Colorado Springs, CO; step-children, Michael (Roxanne) Lefever of Queen Creek, AZ and Dr. Cathy Saiki of Davis, CA; eight grandchildren, Dr. Guy (Kelly) Roberts, Dr. Justin (Kelly) Roberts, Alexis (David) Zoric, Samantha (Jon) Husky, Dan (Melinda) Smith, Ian Lefever, Caitrin Saiki and Clare Saiki; seven great-grandchildren; special friend, Karen Smith of O'Fallon, MO; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. Also surviving is her very special canine companion, Neika.
Friends may call on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 1 to 4 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 4 p.m. in the Cozean Chapel. Interment will follow at a later date in Bowling Green, MO. Memorials, if desired, may be made in Marguerite's name to Bowling Green High School Scholarship Fund c/o of the funeral home.
