Gene Raymond Hooss

FARMINGTON Gene Raymond Hooss, 74, of Farmington passed away October 21, 2021 at the home of his daughter in Belleville, IL. He was born April 8, 1947 in Ironton, Missouri to the late Raymond Hooss and Virginia (Hasty) Hooss. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Vickie (Shoemaker) Hooss; his son, Michael Gene Hooss; grandson, Jonah Hooss Huey; a brother Stanley Reed Hooss and a sister, Donna Barnhill. Gene spent most of his childhood in Fredericktown where he attended school. He was a plumber who was part owner of the D and G Plumbing Company. After his retirement, Gene became a Ranger at the Girl Scout Ranch (Camp Butterfly) which was not far from his home. He enjoyed working at the camp for ten years. Gene liked having horses on his farm, fishing and hunting. He was very proud of his children and of their accomplishments and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. Survivors include his two daughters Natasha Huey of Fredericktown and Natalie (Shawn) Alli of Belleville, IL; four grandchildren, Autumn Huey, Makinna Alli, Michael Alli and Lillian Alli; sisters, Patricia Roach, Terri Jo Gregory, Joyce Hooss Lee; special friends, Bill Snider, Robert Simmons and Judy Johnson; as well as nieces, nephews, other friends and extended family. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 24, 2021 beginning at 1 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel followed by a funeral service at 3 p.m. in the Cozean Chapel.
