Gary Richard Hughes

FARMINGTON Gary Richard Hughes, age 73, of Farmington, passed away on February 19, 2021 at his residence. He was born on July 29, 1947 in Farmington to the late George William Hughes and Alice Mae (Fry) Hughes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Margaret (Smith) Hughes and his brother in law, Gary Propst. Gary proudly served his country as a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed working on old cars and painting but most of all loved his children and grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Gary is survived by his children, Cynthia (and husband Henry) Messimer of Park Hills, Curtis (and wife Angie) Hughes of Bonne Terre, Jerry (and wife Hope) Hughes of Fredericktown, Vincent Hughes of Farmington, Chad Hughes of Farmington, and Mary Ann (and husband Lindell) Dickerson of Bonne Terre, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters, Joan Propst of Farmington and Mary Ann (and husband Gary) Pulliam of Farmington, special companion, Sandy Edwards of Farmington, along with many nieces, nephews and friends. A graveside service with full military honors will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 2:00pm at Genevieve Baptist Church Cemetery.
