FARMINGTON Gary Lee Morris Sr., of Farmington, entered into eternal rest on June 2, 2022, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis at the age of 85. He was born on August 1, 1936, in Williamstown, Missouri, to the late Arthur Elmer Morris. Gary retired from the United States Army as a Chief Warrant Officer after 20 years of proudly serving his country. He was a two time bronze star recipient and served one tour in Thailand and two tours in the Vietnam combat, and during the Korean era. He was stationed in numerous places throughout the world that include England, Italy, and Germany. After retiring from active duty in 1974, he went on to work as a civilian for NATO in Turkey, Greece, Italy, and the Netherlands. He was a member of the VFW Post #5896 of Farmington and the Elks Lodge #1765 of Farmington. Gary was a long time and active member of Memorial United Methodist Church where he served in the Mens Group and started and led the annual food drive. He was on the board for the Ministerial Alliance for many years and volunteered for their food pantry. Gary enjoyed traveling, snow skiing, RVing, bowling, woodworking, and nature and was a gifted cook. He will forever be remembered as being a kind soul who never judged anyone and always showed endless unconditional love. Gary will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Gary is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Edeltraud "Christina" (Walter) Morris, his daughter, Christina (Wil Pearson) Morris of Farmington, his grandchildren, Madelaine (Kris) Rausch, Katharina (Cary) Rausch Pennanen, and Ruben Rausch, his great granddaughter, Zoie Rausch Pennanen, along with many nieces, nephews, friends, and his special canine companion, Katie. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Vivian (the late Paul) Taft and Shirley (the late Richard) Duncan and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Marie Walter. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 6, 2022, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Cozean Memorial Chapel. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, from 9:00am until time of service at 10:00am Memorial United Methodist Church, 425 North Street, Farmington, MO officiated by Pastor Ron Beaton. Interment with full military honors to follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at 1:00pm.
