Gary A. Gratton, of Farmington, passed away May 17, 2015 at the age of 82. He was born in Crosby, Minnesota on July 6, 1932 to the late John Henry and Murrel (Corwin) Gratton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Gratton. A native of Minnesota, Gary moved to Ironton, Missouri in 1951 where he met his wife, Joanna. They spent the first years of their marriage in Minnesota where they had three sons. After a move back to Missouri they had three more sons. Gary worked in the mining industry and in 1961 became the branch president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Farmington Branch where he served until 1972. He was an active member of the St. Francois County Rock and Mineral Society. He was a self taught geologist who enjoyed collecting geodes and minerals. He also had a passion for American Indians and their culture. An avid outdoors man, he loved spending time with his beloved family. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Joanna; children, Gary, John, Larry "Doodle", Jeff, David and Daren; eighteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and a host of extended family as well. Friends may call at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Farmington on Friday, May 22 from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the Church with Bishop Don Blum presiding.
