FARMINGTON- Gary M. Gibson, of Farmington, entered eternal rest on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Mercy Hospital South at the age of 89. He was born on June 22, 1934, in Viburnum, Missouri to the late Paul Gibson and Alta (Ogle) Gibson. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Janelle (Highley) Gibson; his children, Gary D. Gibson, Bill (Lisa) Gibson, Mary (Joe) Woods; stepchildren, Donella (Larry) Hill and David Thomas; grandchildren, Lindsey (Shawn) Neel, Andrew Gibson, Audrey Gibson, Austin Gibson, Tommy Hill, Abbey (Randy) Lurk, and Hailey Thomas; great grandchildren, Kinlee-Ann Brawley, Teagan Lurk, Breckyn Lurk, Easton Hill, Braxton Neel and Brock Neel; and his brother, Ed Gibson. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Dylan Woods; his sister, Delores Stites; and his brother, Bill Gibson. Gary retired from St. Louis Fire Department Engine 14 after working as a firefighter from 1962 - 1974. After retirement from the fire department, he started working as a realtor in the Farmington area. He went on to open his own appraisal business from the basement of their home. Gary was a member of the Masonic Lodge #80 in Bridgeton for more than 60 years and was a long-time member of Shriners. Gary enjoyed fishing, camping, and cruising around the neighborhood on his golf cart. A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, from 11 a.m. until the funeral service at 1 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel officiated by Pastor David Duncan.
