Freeman W. Jones

FARMINGTON Freeman W. Jones, of Farmington, entered into eternal rest on July 13, 2021, at Madison Memorial Hospital in Fredericktown at the age of 93. He was born on June 8, 1928, in Burfordville, Missouri to the late Tony and Vonna (Edelman) Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene Jones and Alan Jones. Freeman is survived by his devoted wife of 68 years, Rowena (Johnson) Jones of Farmington, his daughters, Karen (Tom) Barnes of Thornton, CO, Kristine Jones of Farmington, Sandy (Terry) Mell of Farmington, and Gina (Don) Faulkner of Farmington, his grandchildren, Marcia Wells, Luke (Jessica) Mell, Josh Hinkebein, Abby (Dustin) Hancock, Winston (Amber) Cresswell, Maddie (Garrett Duncan) Ayers, and Ali (Josh) Keller, eight great grandchildren, his brother, Ronnie (Joanna) Jones of Jackson, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Freeman proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army. He was a paratrooper and served during the Korean era. After his time in the military, he worked as a lineman for Southwestern Bell and AT & T and retired after 30 years of employment. He was proud of his membership in the Communication Workers of America Local 6300. His passion was his farm which he and Rowena worked on for 62 years and raised cattle, hogs, chicken, turkey and grew their own produce. Freeman was also a man of faith and a member of the Calvary Temple of Fredericktown for many years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, but his biggest enjoyment was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren who he adored. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 16, 2021, from 4:00pm until time of service at 7:00pm at Cozean Memorial Chapel officiated by Pastor Randy Sawyer.
