FARMINGTON Fredrick "Fred" Louis Seitz of Farmington passed away May 6, 2018 at Southbrook Skilled Nursing Center at the age of 86. He was born on December 4, 1931 in Piedmont, MO to the late Edward Henry and Lester Virginia Ann (Hickman) Seitz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Yvonne Seitz, sisters, Lessie Rae Pettet and Dorothy Mae Seitz and a sister in law, JoAnn Seitz.
Fred was a biology major where he obtained a Bachelors of Science in Education at Southeast Missouri State University, was a science major and received a Masters of Science in Education from Eastern Illinois University and was a counseling major and was awarded a Masters of Education from the University of Missouri/St Louis. He worked for 34 years in public school education beginning in a one room school house at Gads Hill School in Piedmont. He worked 15 years as a classroom teacher and 19 years as a public school counselor. He retired from Riverview Gardens Public School District in 1991. In May 1993, he started at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in the Personal Stress Center as a Psychiatric Technician and later as Intake Coordinator. He was a member of the Farmington Memorial United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. Fred was a 32nd degree Mason and belonged to the Wayne Lodge #526 A.F. & A.M. of Piedmont and Pendleton Lodge #551 A.F. & A.M. of Doe Run.. He enjoyed going to the Farmington Elks Lodge and was a member of the Ooga Booga Club.
Survivors include his children, Patrick (Mary) Seitz of Hixson, TN, Michael Seitz of Farmington, MO and Renee Seitz Lowry of Valley Park, MO, grandchildren, Katy (Eric) Miniea of Barnhart, MO, Ethan Seitz of Hixson, TN and Makenna Seitz of Hixson, TN, brother, Edward Seitz of Piedmont, MO, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Friends may call on Tuesday, May 8, at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5-8 p.m. Visitation will resume at 7 a.m. on Wednesday morning until time of service at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel. Interment will follow at Annapolis Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Stroke Association.
