Fred Paul "Teddy" Thurman of Farmington passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at the age of 87 years, 4 months, and 3 days. He was born on June 29, 1924, in Ste. Genevieve County, son of the late Ira and Grace (Hubbard) Thurman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Elsie Marie Thurman; a son, Denny Thurman and his wife Becky; two brothers, Linn and Russell Thurman; a sister, Hilda Yawberry; a step-sister, Velma Schuessler and step-father, Earl Farrar. Fred was a charter member of Fairview Baptist Church, Farmington Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Shriners. "Teddy" as he was better known will be remembered for enjoying riding and showing horses as well as raising cattle. He was a lifelong, successful farmer both in St. Francois County and Ste. Genevieve County. Survivors include a son, Robert "Bob" Thurman and wife Donna; grandchildren, Kara Thurman, Kevin (Karri) Thurman, Kelli (Alex) Freitas, Jody (Doug) Hahn and Brian (Alesia) Bessire and thirteen great-grandchildren. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, November 3. Visitation will resume on Friday from 7 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the Cozean Chapel. Interment will be at Three Rivers Cemetery in Ste. Genevieve County. Memorials may be made to the Three Rivers Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
