Fred C. Edgar

Fred "Bud" C. Edgar Fred "Bud" C. Edgar of Farmington passed away on Monday, July 25, 2011, at the age of 84 years, 2 months, and 1 day. He was born on May 24, 1927, at Desloge, MO, son of the late Cortez and Pearl Marie (Counts) Edgar. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lana Renee Edgar and two brothers, Raymond and Norman "Pete" Edgar. Bud grew up in Steelville, Missouri where he attended school at Cherryville. He was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean Conflict serving in the U. S. Army. He was honorably discharged in 1950 and went to work for the Missouri Natural Gas Company soon thereafter. Bud worked there until his retirement In July of 1989. In his retirement he enjoyed being a "homebody" as well as feeding the wild birds and spending time with his grand-kids and great-grand kids. He was a faithful member of Farmington First Free Will Baptist Church pastored by his good friend, Rev. Roger Hogan. Fred is survived by his wife of 61 years, Hilda Marie (Crowley) Edgar, daughters, Brenda (Mrs. Mike) Haney, Glenda (Mrs. David) Edwards, and son, Bryan Keith Edgar and wife, Carol, all of Farmington; twelve grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Smith of Collinsville, IL, Margaret Pullen and Kathy (Mrs. Steve) Hammers all of Farmington. Also surviving are his special friends Otis and Bessie Brooks, Richard and Martha Barker and Lloyd Murphy, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday, July 27. Visitation will resume on Thursday from 7 am until the funeral service beginning at 11 am in the Cozean Chapel with Brother Mike Haney officiating. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Farmington. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
