Frank Dvornik

Frank John Dvornik, formerly of Knob Lick, was baptized into the hope of the resurrection on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at Washington County Memorial Hospital in Potosi, at the age of 90 years. He was born on February 6, 1919, at Aurora, IL, the son of the late John and Sophia (Kogi) Dvornik. Mr. Dvornik had been a laborer and farmer in Michigan where he spent most of his adult life, and retired to the Knob Lick area in 1986. He proudly served his country in the US Army as an anti-aircraft gunner during World War II in the defense of the Aleutian Islands against Japanese invasion. He was a life-long member of the Roman Catholic Church, and faithfully attended Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Farmington until recent ill heath prevented him from doing so. He is survived only by his neighbors, church family, and friends from Ashbrook Manor & Georgian Gardens Care Center. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Tuesday May 5, 2009 and from 7a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Cozean Memorial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. James Dyer officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at the New Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Masses, St. Joseph Church Building Fund, or the New Calvary Cemetery Fund.
