Forrest Hackney

September 3, 1932 — May 21, 2012

Forrest Hackney of Farmington passed away on May 21, 2012 in Parkland Hospital at the age of 79. He was born in Roda, Virginia on September 3, 1932 to the late Joe M. and Beula Mae (Chester) Hackney. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death in 2003 by his wife, Anna Lee (Gromer) Hackney. Two brothers, James and Joe and two sisters, Wilma and Vanessa also preceded him in death. Forrest set out early in life working and earning a living. He worked many jobs but settled into being a security guard. This profession was one that he worked at for most of his adult life. After his retirement in 1995 Forrest enjoyed extensive travel. In his spare time he enjoyed barbquing, horseshoes and playing cards. Many will remember him for his excellent chili making ability. Spending time with his beloved kids and grandkids was very precious to him. Survivors include his loving sister, Dora Ann Hammond who he enjoyed spending time with; his four daughters, Shawn Renee Peralta, Elizabeth Hill, Shirley Jean Hinzo and Gwendolyn Elaine Kirkendall; four sons, Jerry, Donnie, Mike and Reg Stahl; 32 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and a special friend, Billy Lix.
