Floyd M. Parmley

February 14, 1928 — February 5, 2015

Floyd Parmley, of Farmington, passed away February 5, 2015 at Parkland Health Center at the age of 86. He was born February 14, 1928 in Potosi to the late Ladden and Laura (Morgan) Parmley. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Margaret Kathleen Parmley in 2014 and several brothers and sisters. Floyd grew up both in Potosi and St. Louis. From a very young age he learned to be a hard worker. During his life he had several different careers having worked for a lighting company in St. Louis, as a maintenance worker for the City of DeSoto, a highway worker for the Washington County Highway Dept. and as a grounds keeper for the North County School District. His true passion was preaching the word of God in brush arbors and tent revivals. He also loved to play the guitar and sing gospel music. In his spare time Floyd enjoyed going to ball games to watch his grand-kids play, barbequing burgers and going to hot dog roasts. Survivors include his four sons, David (Susan) Parmley, Danny (Marcia) Parmley, Dennis Parmley and Steve (Tanya) Parmley; six grandchildren, Derek, and wife, Erika, Shawna, Kelsi, Dyllon, Alexis and Nathaniel; one great granddaughter, Cheyenne; a sister, Grace Green and a brother, Luther Parmley. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Monday, February 9 from 4 - 8 p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday morning beginning at 7 a.m. until the time of the service beginning at 10 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Floyd's son, David Parmley officiating. Interment will follow at Libertyville Christian Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Camelot Nursing and Rehab Activity Christmas Fund.
