Floyd James Rogers passed away on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center at the age of 86 years. He was born April 14, 1925, in Mine La Motte, the son of the late Floyd Rogers and Nettie (LaBrot) Rogers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Earl, Glenwood and Lindell Rogers, and his sister, Evelyn Query. A retired grocer, Floyd was a member of the First Baptist Church of Farmington. He was a U.S. Army combat veteran of World War II, recipient of the Bronze Star and a past commander of the Farmington VFW and American Legion. A lover of nature and the outdoors, Floyd was an avid gardener, a talented artist and above all, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. In addition to his wife, Katherine (Smith) Rogers, he is survived by his sons, Dennis Rogers (Ree) of Farmington and Ken Rogers (Jenny) of Willard, Mo.; his daughters, Andrea Lohse (Don) of Kirkwood, Mo., Jane Gollaher of Farmington, and Cindy Lamb (George) of Tulsa, Okla.; grandchildren, Jamilyn (Lohse) Schroyer of Warson Woods, Mo., Josh Rogers of St. Louis, Mo., Adam Lohse of O'Fallon, Mo., Gabe Wichman of Arnold, Mo., Carmen (Wichman) Mercado of Tulsa, Derek Gollaher of Farmington, Colin Rogers of Farmington, Nicholas Gollaher of Farmington, and Katie and Koen Rogers of Willard, Mo.; and great-grandchildren, Holden and Campbell Schroyer of Warson Woods, Evan, Ryder and Abram Gollaher of Farmington, Eden Gollaher of Farmington, and Harper Lohse of O'Fallon. Floyd's family will receive friends at Cozean Memorial Chapel on Monday, Aug. 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral will occur Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Farmington.
