FARMINGTON - Floyd Esko Becker, Sr. of Farmington passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Parkland Health Center at the age of 91 years. He was born October 24, 1923 at Elvins son of the late Clifford Lee and Virgie Rae (Martin) Becker. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Floyd E. Becker, Jr., two brothers Earl Becker and Donald Becker, a sister Oneida Becker, and an infant sister. On September 9, 1942 Floyd was married to Hazel Ruth Thomas at Leadington. In January 1943 Floyd was called to serve his country and honorably served in the US Army during WWII. From 1955 - 1964 Floyd served as the County Clerk for St. Francois County. For many years Floyd was self-employed in the Private Education Sector owning and operating a Business School and a Beauty Academy. He was a past commander of the American Legion Post # 416, an active member of the Farmington Kiwanis Club and was instrumental in the formation of many new Kiwanis Clubs throughout the state. For many years he officiated as a referee at high school and college sporting events particularly enjoying college basketball. He was an avid sports fan with his favorite being the St. Louis Cardinals. In his spare time he enjoyed reading Western novels. He was a long-time member of the Memorial United Methodist Church of Farmington where he was active in the Men's Club He also attended the Doe Run United Methodist Church. His greatest love, however, was his family. His wife children, and grandchildren were the light of his life. He is survived by his wife Hazel Ruth (Thomas) Becker of Farmington, three daughters Nelma Ruth (& Lynn)Williams of Fredericktown, Mary Lee (& Von) Gilliam and Sharma Becker of Farmington, eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, a sister Virginia (& Jack) Puhl of Lake St. Louis, brother-in-law Murphy (& Mary) Thomas of Farmington, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2014 at the Cozean Memorial Chapel & Crematory. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in the Cozean Chapel with the Rev. Brad Dush and the Rev. Scott Hall officiating. Interment will be in the Doe Run Memorial Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Doe Run or the Memorial United Methodist churches.
