Floyd Bayless

Floyd Edward Bayless of Park Hills, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2009, at Country Meadows Nursing Home of Park Hills, at the age of 86 years. He was born on April 24, 1923, at Knob Lick, the son of the late McDowell and Leona (Chastain) Bayless. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Verna (Barks) Bayless, a son, David Bayless, a grandson, Douglas Andreat, a brother, Jack Bayless, and a sister, Norma Jean Hahl. Mr. Bayless proudly served his country in the U. S. Army in World War II. Before retirement, he was employed in the trucking industry. He worked for many years for Yellow Freight Trucking in St. Louis, and later as terminal manager for Truck Transport of Bonne Terre, from where he retired. Floyd will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him, and that includes a son, Thomas McDowell Bayless (Theresa) of Elizabethtown, KY, four daughters., Peggy Sue (Mrs. Duane) Spilker and Nancy Marie (Mrs. Roberto) Ramirez, all of Collinsville, IL, Cheryl Lea Marler and Sandra Bayless, both of Park Hills, a sister, Laura Underwood of Oak Ridge, TN, a step-daughter, Beverly Miller of Farmington, a daughter-in-law, Sharon Bayless of Farmington, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Numerous other relatives and friends also survive. A graveside service with Military Honors will be private. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
