Flora Aline Yates of Farmington passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at Camelot Nursing & Rehab Center at the age of 96 years, 2 months, and 17 days. She was born on February 18, 1914, at Fredericktown, daughter of the late Thomas and Mamie (Maze) Clark. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Burlin Yates Sr.; three brothers, Chester Clark, Thomas Clark and David Clark; and two sisters, Tressie Clark Kiepe and Hatie Clark Hill. A long time resident of the Farmington area, Flora retired from a long career with Trimfoot. In her spare time she enjoyed painting, sculpturing, and quilting. She also played the saxophone in the Ozarks Saxophone Choir, a local ladies orchestra in the 1930's. In her retirement she liked working in her yard and gardening. Flora is survived by her son, Burlin L. Yates Jr. of Stanton; two grandchildren, Susanne Yates Tuck of O'Fallon and Patrick Yates of Stanton; a great-granddaughter, Brittany Tuck of O'Fallon; a sister, Lessie Clark (Mrs. Elbert) Roberts of Buffalo, TX and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at Cozean Memorial Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 7. Visitation will resume Saturday from 7 a.m. until the beginning of the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the Cozean Chapel with Dr. William Miller officiating.
