FARMINGTON - Fernie Duesterbeck of Farmington passed away on December 3, 2021 at Mercy Jefferson Hospital in Festus at the age of 85. He was born in Walworth, Wisconsin on March 29, 1936 to the late John Duesterbeck and Frieda (Kestler) Duesterbeck. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Lester, John, Bernard, George, Herbert and Vernon Duesterbeck and a sister, Marlene Carlisle. Fernie grew up on a farm in a large family in Wisconsin. He worked hard at an early age helping on the family farm. Later he was employed with the Wisconsin State Highway Department and retired after twenty years with the department. In 2005 Fernie moved to Farmington to escape the cold winters of Wisconsin. On March 29, 2011 he married Glenda Ward. Fernie and Glenda loved flower gardening and had beautiful flower gardens that they enjoyed tending to. Fernie was a huge football fan and never missed watching the Greenbay Packers, The Kansas City Chiefs and the Wisconsin Badgers. He had a wonderful sense of humor, was a gentle person and he will always be Glenda's "hero" and she loved him dearly. Survivors include his wife, Glenda; children, David Duesterbeck, Cindy Duesterbeck and Fernie Duesterbeck, Jr.; five step-children; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; special nephew, Gary (Nancy) Carlisle; brother-in-law Robert Allen Tomlinson and sister-in-law, Patricia Ann Atter.
